Move or Copy Subtask Template

Need to use a Subtask Template in another project or create a similar one without starting from scratch? The Import & Export feature in Templating.app makes it easy to move or copy Subtask Templates for:

  • Reusing in Another Project: Save time by applying a template to different projects.
  • Backup Purposes: Keep a copy of your templates for safekeeping.
  • Creating Similar Templates: Duplicate a template within the same project for slight modifications.

Export Template Configuration

  1. Open the Subtask Template: Go to the Subtask Template you want to move or copy.
  2. Click on Import & Export: In the template menu, select the Import & Export option.
  3. Choose Your Export Method:
    • Copy Raw Template Configuration: Copy the raw text to insert into another Subtask Template manually.
    • Export Template Configuration File (JSON): Download a JSON file that can be imported into another Subtask Template

Import Template Configuration

  1. Open the Subtask Template: Navigate to the Subtask Template where you want to import the configuration.
  2. Click on Import & Export: Select the Import & Export option in the template menu.
  3. Import the Configuration:
    • Paste Raw Configuration: Add the copied text to the provided textbox.
    • Upload JSON File: Import the previously exported JSON file.
  4. Switch to Default View: Return to the regular template editing screen.
  5. Adjust the Subtask Issue Types: Ensure that the subtask types match the new project’s settings.
  6. Verify Configuration: Double-check that all details, such as fields and labels, are correct.
  7. Save Changes: Click Save to finalize the imported template.
