Customize Scheme Names

Templating.app allows you to customize scheme and scheme type names to make them more user-friendly and provide additional context. This feature helps users understand the purpose of a scheme when applying a project template. Note that this customization is not about adding translations but about adding meaningful descriptions.

Steps to Customize Scheme and Scheme Type Names

  1. Open Templating.app
    • Navigate to Jira and open Templating.app from the Apps menu.
  2. Access Project Templates
    • Click on the Project Templates button.
  3. Go to Administration
    • Click on Go to Administration.
  4. Select Customization
    • From the left sidebar, select Customization.
  5. Add Additional Information
    • You can add text to the project templates overview. This text can include guidelines, links, instructions, and more to help users understand the templates better.
  6. Search for Schemes and Scheme Types
    • Use the search functionality to locate the schemes and scheme types you want to customize.
  7. Provide Alternative Text
    • Add an alternative text to give more context to the scheme. This text will be displayed when a user views or applies a template.
    • Example: Instead of displaying โ€œKanban Issue Type Scheme,โ€ you could customize it to say, โ€œThis scheme includes Task and Subtask and is perfect for Business Teams.โ€
  8. Save Changes
    • Click Save Changes to apply your customizations.
