Create Project Template

Creating a project template in Templating.app is straightforward and gives your team the ability to quickly create consistent, well-structured projects.

Steps to Create Project Templates

  1. Open Templating.app Overview: Navigate to Jira NavigationAppsTemplating.app.
  2. Access Project Templates: As an admin, click on the Project Templates button located at the top.
  3. Go to Administration: In the Project Templates Overview, click on Go to Administration.
    • If templates have already been created, they will be listed with descriptions and their statuses (enabled or disabled).
  4. Create a New Template: Click on Create a Template to start building a new project template.
  5. Add Basic Information
    • Choose an icon, add a name, and write a description. These elements help users identify the template best suited to their needs.
    • Add an optional note with additional details such as guidelines, links, or formatted instructions. This note will be displayed when users select the template.
  6. Set Template Details
    • Project Type: Choose between Jira Software or Jira Work Management projects.
    • Project Lead: Predefine a lead or leave this field empty to allow users to choose.
    • Status: Set the template to Enabled (available for use) or Disabled (hidden).

    • Priority Schemes
  1. Final Steps
    • After completing the configuration, click Create Template.
    • If enabled, admins and users with granted permissions can now create projects using your template.
