Apply Issue Template

Applying an issue template is a simple and efficient way to create multiple issues based on pre-defined templates. Whether you are onboarding new employees, managing recurring tasks, or handling complex workflows, applying a template can save you valuable time and ensure consistency.

Finding an Issue Template

Locating the right issue template is quick and straightforward with Templating.app. Whether you’re browsing through the template library, filtering by project, or using the Rovo Agent, there are multiple ways to find exactly what you need.

Template Library

Access the Template Library by clicking on Templating.app in the Jira navigation bar. Here, you can view all available templates.

  • Global Templates: All templates marked with the “Visible in Global Library” toggle will appear in the library, even if you don’t have access to their associated default project. However, you will only be able to see the name of these templates and not preview or apply them.
  • Favorites: Use the star icon to favorite a template. Favorited templates are pinned to the top of the list for easier access.
  • Search Bar: Quickly locate specific templates by entering keywords into the search bar. This is especially useful if your library includes many templates.
  • Template Limit: The library displays up to 60 templates at a time

Project Dropdown

Filter templates by project using the dropdown menu in the Template Library.

  • You will only see projects for which you have the appropriate permissions.
  • Selecting a project reveals all associated issue templates, including those not marked as “Visible in Global Library.”

Rovo Agent

For users of Rovo, the Templating.app Agent simplifies finding the perfect template for your needs.

  • Simply describe what you want to achieve, and the Rovo Agent will present matching templates.
  • This feature saves time by offering tailored recommendations based on your input.

Apply Issue Template

Applying an issue template is quick and easy, saving you time and effort when creating tasks and projects. With just a few clicks, you can generate pre-configured issues:

  1. Select an Issue Template: Click on the desired template in the Template Library.
  2. Preview the Template: A preview of the template will appear on the right side of the page, showing all issues included in the template.
  3. Apply the Template: Click on the Create Issues button.

Additional Features

  • Deactivate Specific Issues: Click on individual issues in the preview to deactivate them. Deactivated issues won’t be created when applying the template. See how it works
